HMI for e-truck in urban distribution traffic
The optimal networking of truck driver and dispatcher: Development of a software solution for a combination tool with tablet PC and smartwatch app
The Mercedes-Benz electric truck is the world's first fully electric truck with a gross vehicle weight of up to 26 tonnes. In future the truck can be used in urban distribution traffic - emission-free and with low noise levels. GIGATRONIK has equipped the electric truck with software for the fully graphical combination instrument. The central display on the steering wheel and the additional Android tablet allow drivers and dispatchers to coordinate their transports in real time. The dynamic display continuously adapts to the circumstances. Thus, the driver can always see the range with the current energy reserves and adjust the driving mode. In addition, the driver can keep an eye on the truck’s battery level via a smart watch - GIGATRONIK supplies the appropriate app. Dispatchers are continuously networked with their vehicles and drivers and can flexibly adapt the fleet’s transport tasks. Even unforeseeable events, such as unexpected return loads, can be efficiently integrated into the transport orders - all the necessary information on the adapted route appears directly on the responsible driver's combination instrument and tablet. GIGATRONIK employees from the sectors IT solutions and embedded solutions in Stuttgart as well as employees from Munich and Cologne took part in the development across the locations.
